A Basque in Boise

On your toes

There is a Teriyaki place by where I used to work where you can order teriyaki chicken and sushi rolls in Spanish. It’s a small place owned by a Mexican family.

On Wednesday, my friend Nurgi picked me up from Dulles International Airport so we could spend a couple of hours together during my 4-hour layover on the way to Bilbao.  We went to an Italian restaurant nearby, run by a bunch of Middle Eastern guys.

I don’t know. I just think it’s funny.

There’s a Thai place near my house, whose owners lived in the small town of Chascomús, in Argentina, for many years, and speak Spanish with a perfect Argentine accent. Not quite the same as you mention, I know, but quite close.
