After last year’s big Jaialdi celebration, all of us Boise Basques get ready to celebrate San Inazio in a more intimate setting and commemorate this way the saint’s birthday. Saint Ignatius of Loyola is the patron saint of the Basques and founder of the Jesuit religious order.

From Friday, July 29th to Sunday, July 31st, there will be exhibitions of music, dance, and sports all over the Basque Block in downtown Boise. Oinkari Basque dancers and Amuma Says No, already back from their two weeks touring the Basque Country will perform throughout the weekend.. The Mass and picnic will take place on Sunday, as well as both indoor and outdoor dances.

The Basque Block on Grove Street in downtown Boise will closed off while the dances and festivities are held on Friday and Saturday. I will be downtown on Friday night (9:30 to midnight) serving beer outside the Basque Center. You guys should really come down and say “Kaixo!”

For those of you into sports, the annual Euzkaldunak Golf Tournament will take place at Falcon Crest Golf course on Saturday. The 3rd Annual Paleta Invitational will be going on all weekend at the Anduiza fronton.

There are all kinds of activities to enjoy. Don’t miss any of the fun! Click here for the San Inazio 2011 Schedule of events and start planning the weekend.

Gero arte!
