Idaho vs Bizkaia: Two worlds, two different lifestyles
What a nice surprise this morning when I checked the news and saw that two of my girlfriends were interviewed on Euskadi Irratia!
Both Rosa Mari Arrubarrena and Itxaso Cayero were born in the US to Basque parents. Rosa Mari grew up in Boise and has spent many summers in Euskadi, while Itxaso left at just seven months and grew up in the Basque Country. Itxaso returned to Boise a couple of years ago to study at Boise State University, where she now teaches Spanish. She also works as a Basque language teacher for Boiseko Ikastola, along with Rosa Mari – who was in fact among the first group of parents that made the Ikastola dream a reality. Both are enjoying the summer in the Basque Country in company of their friends and family before school starts again.
I will eventually get the interview translated and I will post the English version here, but in the meantime you can enjoy it in Basque.
