A Basque in Boise

Basque language workshop to take place tomorrow in Boise

Once again, teachers from all over the United States will gather to participate in NABO’s yearly Basque language workshop, which will take place tomorrow from 9 to 5 at the Basque Museum in Boise. Last year’s workshop also took place in Boise and it focused on “Teaching while playing”. The year before it was celebrated in Salt Lake City, where teachers learned about “What to teach and how to teach it”.

During tomorrow’s workshop the future Basque teachers will talk about how to improve the current situation of the Basque language in the United States and Canada. There is an ongoing need for new instructors, especially in communities that have yet to offer lessons. Afterwards, there will be presentations on grammar, learning techniques, and a workshop for kids:

– Grammar, Izaskun Kortazar, NABO Basque language coordinator
– Learning Techniques, Nere Lete, Dept. of Modern Languages & Literatures, BSU
– Children’s workshop, Itxaso Cayero, new NABO Basque language coordinator

Ten teachers will participate in tomorrow’s workshop, which will be broadcast over the internet for those who are unable to assist in person.

To find out more, please contact euskara@nabasque.org or send a message to Izaskun Kortazar at izaskunkortazar@gmail.com.
