A Basque in Boise

“Poteo” night on Friday, May 4, at the Basque Block in downtown Boise

Surely, you’ve heard the word “poteo” before. If not, it’s what we call “bar hopping” in the Basque Country. So, whether you’ve been “de poteo” in the past or you are just curious about it, come down to poteo night on Friday, May 4. You will not only enjoy the drinks, but some Basque traditional singing as well.

People will meet at the Basque Market at 6:00 PM. Then, everybody will head over to Leku-Ona. The night will end across the street, at the Basque Center. You can join in at any of those places, at any time. Don’t forget to bring cash to make touring the bars a bit quicker. Drinks will be anywhere from 2 to 3 dollars.

Alright, alright, but…”What if I really want to come to the drinking part but not the singing part?” No problem! (Provided you’re over 21). However, you’ll still be encouraged to sing. Don’t worry, lyrics will be provided.

If you have any questions regarding this event please email Izaskun Kortazar or give her a call at (208) 631-2750.

Cuidadito con el poteo y a pasarlo bien. Espero que al día siguiente no llueva.
