A Basque in Boise

The “Baga, Biga, Higa” concert organized by the Rhode Island Basque Club, a great success

The “Baga, Biga, Higa” concert organized by the Rhode Island Basque Club took place last Friday night at the Portsmouth Abbey School Auditorium, in Portsmouth, RI. It was a Journey Through the History of Basque Music, and a complete success. Mikel Markez and Eñaut Elorrieta (Ken Zazpi’s lead singer) traveled through the last decades of music in the Basque Country among visual projections and audio from the sociopolitical times that marked music and culture in Basque.

The singers performed pieces by Mikel Laboa, Benito Lertxundi, Itoiz, Hertzainak, as well as some of their own masterpieces, such as Mikel Markez’s Zure Begiak and Eñaut Elorrieta’s Ilargia.

About 250 people from different student circles joined members of the Rhode Island Basque Club to enjoy the concert.
