We talked about dealing with stress during Basque class on Monday. It makes us use the language but more importantly, it helps us to know each other better. Everybody mentioned work and hurried living as the main sources of stress. Then, each of us shared with the group what we do to keep it together: exercise, meditation, eat chocolate or spend time with friends. In my case, I also write.
I don’t throw emails away. I keep them all neatly organized in folders with your names, broken down by company if they’re related to my translation business. The latter helps me when I work on similar documents or to check on something if a customer has a question. Why I keep the rest, I have no clue. I hardly ever go back to read them, and the ones I do, I shouldn’t. They’re past their expiration date and make me sick. My stomach ties up in knots and it hurts like crazy.

Conchi, thanks so much for your advice. Or not!! Hahaha.

I learned to delete long ago, and even though every once in a while I would love to go back and read what’s nowhere in cyberspace, I believe I’m much healthier than I would be if I hadn’t deleted those emails. I’m still a sick old bitch, but for other reasons.

You’re sick alright. No way you’d be my friend otherwise.

I agree doth Diana. I delete everything I’ve read, especially the sad or negative messages. That way, I’m not tempted to go back to re-read and dwell on stuff that will certainly stress me out and bring me down. I do keep positive emails or messages that send love or praise. Always good for morale to read those again…

Thanks, the ones I read were positive, though.

5S methodology would help you.. You are great at organising them, but, perhaps you never thought about the criteria to distinguish necessary and unnecessary! You know that I’m a great fan of 5S, you probably listenned to me mentioning this concept before!

I have no idea what you’re talking about!
