Seattle Euskal Etxea Picnic, August 10th

The Seattle Euskal Etxea will hold their annual picnic at Lake Sammamish Park on Saturday August 10th.

The format will be a potluck picnic, however club will provide lamb and chorizos. The lamb is donated by club members Agustin Baskaran and Joe Ricondo. The costs are noted below. Also, if you have paid a club membership for 2013, and still haven’t received your complimentary t-shirt/apron, we still have some complimentary t-shirt/aprons available. As always, there will be games, music, and mus. Also, feel free to bring a grill if you would like and show us how to make your favorite Basque dish.

The picnic location is the S2-Creek Picnic Shelter, labeled as site A in the map below. If you have any questions on the location, please call Gaizka Mallea at 206-257-9603.  The park is right off of exit 15 on I-90. Also, keep in mind that since it is a state park, please use your discover pass, or you will have to purchase a daily pass at the entrance of the park, approximately $10.

The following is the schedule of events for the picnic:

12:00 PM – Lamb and Chorizos will be cooked
2:00 PM – Mus tournament starts
2:00 PM – Games will begin. Games include potato sack races, cornhole, sokatira (tug of war), egg toss and others

  1. Rosa Maria Young

I am an American writer of Spanish origin . Last June I published a book -“El fin de las armas”- which even if it is fiction deals with the Spanish Basque problem. While researching prior to write it I came across the North American Basque Organizations and saw that there was a Basque Center in Seattle. I am going there (from October 31 to November 15) to visit two of my sons who live in the city and would love to get in touch with some of you if possible.
If interested you can read about me and my book in

I will appreciate your answer via email. Thanks.
