A Basque in Boise

Friday’s random rant

Boise’s mayor Dave Bieter is in the Basque Country this week for the Mayors for Peace Conference that opened today in Donosti, and I promise I’ll post something about it soon.

But first I need to get a couple of things out of my chest before I can move on and enjoy my Friday.

I’d like to start with why the hell are people so weird. So both my friend Diana and I like to check out the Missed Connections and Strictly Platonic sections on Craigslist, for whatever reason. I’d say it’s mainly out of boredom, because nothing has ever come out of our in-depth research, unless you count those slightly traumatizing moments after reading a post. Like this gem Diana shared with me last night, justifiably wondering what will happen when this particular source of happiness runs out. I guess that, just like in any other relationship, they’ll split when it’s not fullfilling anymore.

Breast milk – m4w (Boise)

I love the taste of breast milk, so im looking for someone who is pregnant or lactating to start a mutual relationship with.

PomegranateThen, and also along the lines of nourishment, I’d like to bitch about pomegranates. I don’t care how great of dietary fiber they are, the fact alone that it takes four times longer to peel the thing than to eat its arils it’s enough reason for me to never get them from the grocery store. Not to mention how carefully you have to do it so pieces of the yellow membrane don’t mix in with the fruit. Have you ever tasted it? It’s disgusting! Unfortunately, my daughter loves pomegranate, and when she ‘helps’ with grocery shopping, I get to go home, get up 20 minutes earlier than usual and make the biggest, stickiest mess ever so Maitane can enjoy a nice bowl of red seeds for breakfast.

Awwww… So much better!
