Iker Arretxe and Aritz Begino lost their eighth game of the championship on Saturday, leaving them with virtually no chance even mathematically of making the semi finals. In an uninspiring encounter, the result was never in serious doubt as the eventual winners led comfortably throughout. Begino’s run of bad form continued as he played with little potency on his way to a total of four errors. On paper however, the major culprit in the loss was Arretxe, who committed eight errors to only five winners and was no match for Bengoetxea. Bengoetxea and Apraiz did what they had to do and notched up their fourth win, putting them in sixth place but level on points with Berasaluze and Begino in fourth. They have everything to play for.
