A Basque in Boise

NY Basque marathon runners needed

NY Marathon, 2007

Are you Basque and planning to run next Sunday, November 6, in the New York marathon? Then Cyrielle Balerdi is looking for you.

Originally from the beautiful Basque city of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Cyrielle is now living in New York. She works for Le Journal du Pays Basque and does some freelance work for TV stations in the city. She is very interested in studying the Basque diaspora in both North and South America, which brings us to our opening question. Cyrielle would like to meet any interested Basque runners willing to do an interview with her.

Boise is also included in Cyrielle’s diaspora studies. She is planning a trip to our city in two weeks to meet with Basques who immigrated in the 50’s. She’s especially looking to doing their portraits.

So, whether you’re a New York Basque marathon runner or a Boise Basque who immigrated in the 1950’s, don’t be shy and get in touch with Cyrielle at cbalerdi@lejpb.com. Let’s keep Basque people in the spotlight!
