The time machine

It’s amazing how a smell, a voice, the mere mention of someone’s name can send you back in time and dig up emotions you thought maybe not forgotten, but at least overcome. Suddenly, déjà vu takes over and you find yourself playing out that old conversation again, the one you’ve had a million times already, each side tirelessly repeating the same hackneyed arguments, in the same order, in the same tone, never moving an inch towards the middle, never getting closer to a resolution, as hurtful this time as all the others that came before.

    Awwww…
…well, for whatever it’s worth, age will help out with this, as I recently discovered. I ran into an old treasured friend. We parted ways, once upon a moon, due to unresolved issues. We chatted and tried to recall why we parted, and, neither of us could remember. So, on one hand, all is forgiven and we are reunited, on the other hand, we’re old…bummer!!
    Nature’s forgiveness serum…

Yes, that happens sometimes, doesn’t it? I am happy to hear you reunited with your friend, that’s a nice story, one that ends on a positive note.

On occasion I’ve found that the healing path dwells less in words said a million times and more in those never said at all.
