A Basque in Boise

Mr. Roca

BathroomMy friend made me laugh today when she said that there is no better way to make her daughters want to talk to her than going to the bathroom and locking herself in. Sounds familiar. And quite annoying, to be honest. It’s just not the same when you have to help spell “sesquicentennial” or find that special teddy bear that was misplaced three months ago but has to be found right now. Some moments were simply meant to be enjoyed alone. In silence.

My dad always said he had a meeting with Mr. Roca. My mom, my sister and I would take the hint and run for our turn before he got in. There was only one bathroom in the house and I have no clue what they talked about, but I remember those sessions being invariably long.

Some people like to take a book. Personally, a book seems like a bit too much for such a short period of time. Something like People magazine or the Reader’s Digest seems more like the thing to browse in the meantime. The jokes in the latter are pretty funny, and I honestly can’t think of a better place to read about Kim Kardashian’s divorce.
